Garmin Voice S Celebrity Voices For Gps: The Ultimate Guide to Downloading and Installing Famous Voi

Using celebrity/character voices in navigation systems goes back almost a decade, and features some of the biggest names in the world. Check out the slideshow for our collection of the greatest and geekiest. Most are still available for purchase (or free), particularly if you have a compatible Garmin or TomTom navigation system (check compatibility before you buy). How this hasn't become a thing for Google and Apple Maps on phones yet, I don't know. Maybe Drake can record one for Apple soon.

VoiceSkins, which produces "licensed real celebrity GPS voices for TomTom," added Snoop Dogg to its roster alongside Dan Castellaneta as both Homer Simpson and Mr. Burns in 2009. Since then, dozens of famous voices have been made available to TomTom users, including Burt Reynolds, Kim Cattrall, Bugs Bunny, Mr. T and Darth Vader.

Garmin Voice S Celebrity Voices For Gps

that most celebrity GPS voices are non-TTS ... they will not speak street names. So you get"Turn left in 500 feet" instead of"In 500 feet, turn left on Maple Boulevard".Yeah. While a novelty, it's also a leap backward. I often need to hear the street name.

that most celebrity GPS voices are non-TTS ... they will not speak street names. So you get"Turn left in 500 feet" instead of"In 500 feet, turn left on Maple Boulevard".That raises an interesting question. How long does it take a voice actor to put together a TTS/street name sound file? I assume they're recording just phonetic sounds that the GPS can string together for street names in addition to the side comments, but still, I wonder how long it takes and how boring it is.

Sgt. R. Lee Ermey--and that's how he spells it by the way--(he'll be along to make any disrespectful numbnuts who can't get that spelling straight drop and give him 20 ;-)--would be my choice as well. I've seen a celebrity impersonation GPS voice file for him, but I didn't think it sounded like the real Sarge.

I just purchased sergeant hartman voice for my garmin nuvi and cant get it to load onto my device. I have contacted customer support but there is no support, just an email that takes an entire day to get to you. And further more all it tells you are the things to do that you have already done over and over again. If it will not work for you why not have a tech call and walk you through it or at least give the customer a refund? What a waste of time and money. I really wish i purchased from a more reputable company with some customer support. This feels like a take the money and run kind of deal.

Let me know if you find anything. I would like the change the voice on the Nuvi Come pre-loaded with all available voices that are compatible with them; and they sometimes are updated via Web Updater. If you're looking for other voice personae, there are none available beyond what you can download via Web Updater or other Garmin sites.

Where do I find Redlight alert voices and how do you set them up?ThanksYou can use a terrible computer synthesized sounding voice from a couple of web sites..you type something and it creates a wav or mp3 file for you.

i have mistakenly deleted my voices folder from my NUVI 760 and I can not find them from anywhere. I need to download new ones that speak text to speechUSE GARMIN web updater it will find all of the voices and installs them!1

Keep in mind that I have not seen a voice package yet that works with text to speech. This means the voices won't announce street names, they will just give standard instructions (e.g. - "turn left", "turn right", etc.)

Garmin recently added a program that running in a browser & make it really easy to add the voices, they have 3 right now, Elfred is a riot. I have not downloaded the other voice, it is a Halloween voice. Also they added new vehicles & with the Garmin plug it it makes it really easy to use.

We tried the Elf voice and killed it after just a few minutes. Dr. Nightmare is the one we use. The voice is clear and the driving instructions are great. The comments are definitely related to Halloween, but we can over look that because of the clarity. It has caused us to rename our Garmin as well. It went from being Billy (after the blue-nosed reindeer) to Boris.

I would like to know about d/loading different voices to my GPS. I would like to try a different voice, however if I don't like it, will I be able to return to the original voice that came on the unit....

i have tried the web update but it is not working. i still cant get my garmin200w to talk. Is there any other way? Just the VOICE Pls. I will appreciate anyone with Garmin200w to pls copy and send their voice as an e-mail attachment to my box----okoeverylady@yahoo.co.uk

I saw an advertisement for a MIO Knight Rider GPS that sounds like the car KITT in the tv show. That would be cool if someone could figure out to do an a garmin ! If I remember correctly the actor that did the voice for Kitt died a few years ago and the programs are still copyrighted, so a royalty would have to be paid for each copy.

Some people love to drive and go on road trips to discover new places or just enjoy the scenery. For the less familiar destinations, they have to rely on maps or GPS to be familiar with the directions or routes. For this, drivers usually turn to the Waze app especially, which stands out because it adds fun to navigation with different Waze voices to choose from.

Aside from using the available default voices, adding, or customizing, Waze adds celebrity voices to the list that are only available for a certain time. Also, they are added to promote movies, TV shows, and upcoming music or albums. Here are some of the featured celebrity voices for navigation:

The official voice skin can be bought through the TomTom Home software for $17.50, along with six other official English-language celebrity voices: John Cleese, Mr T, Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall, Burt Reynolds, Dennis Hopper and baseball player Curt Schilling.

In addition to the celebrity voices, all of which cost money, TomTom users can also download 108 standard computer-generated voices in 56 languages for free. There is also the ability for customers to record their own voice skins and share them with other users.

Chris Kearney, marketing director at TomTom, said there were only six celebrity voices available, despite the feature being launched several years ago, because of issues in obtaining official licenses from celebrities to use their voice.

These unofficial skins are free and can be downloaded and simply transferred to the GPS device when it is plugged in to a computer. However, unlike the official offerings, they are not authentic voices and are simply parodies.

Mobile navigation devices like TomTom and Garmin had a host of celebrity voices that could give you directions. As things shifted towards a smartphone-driven society, bulky GPS devices fell out of favor.

When you purchase a Garmin Nuvi GPS, the device automatically comes with many different voices to choose from. Different models each have different options available such as male and female voices, different accents and numerous language choices. In addition to these, you can also download additional voices from Garmin's official website. Some voices will have a fee, but others are offered free of charge for anyone who has purchased a Garmin Nuvi. The available voices change so check back often for new options.

Navigation app Waze has added a number of celebrity voices in the past few years to give you directions on your journeys. From Jeremy Clarkson, to Arnold Schwarzenegger, to Morgan Freeman, Waze is now home to a host of well-known talkers. Yesterday, Waze announced the latest celebrity narrator to hit the app: Mr T.

My step-mother found a GPS that has different celebrity voices on it. One of them is John Cleese, which at first I was very impressed by and enjoyed thoroughly. Then his cheeky humor got tired because he said the same things over and over again. Lame. Still, at least I could imagine him doing the silly walk while giving me directions.

Other sat-nav companies have had some notable names, with TomTom offering the voices of John Cleese, Darth Vader and Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall. TomTom also offered a dedicated Top Gear sat-nav system with the voice of Jeremy Clarkson, but it was pulled from sale due to a licensing challenge.

Garmin also has host of voices available for its navigation units, including characters such as Spongebob Squarepants and Avatar, as well as interpretations of Sean Connery, Morgan Freeman and Ozzy Osbourne.

If you like to customize your app for a more engaging driving experience, Waze provides you with numerous great customization options. First of all, there are several voices you can set to guide you when driving, including celebrities or cartoon characters. You can even record your own voice and use it instead. 2ff7e9595c
